Exhibition and online collection

Discover over 400 extraordinary objects in the Everything of value exhibition, and listen to audio stories about their origin and use. Walk along the wall of banknotes from around the world, and take a closer look at the display cabinets with special coins and medals from ancient times to the present day. There’s also an exquisite piggy bank, an unusual money box and a silver bar from a long-gone era. Here you will learn what money is and how it has shaped our history. The online collection features photos and descriptions of more than 100,000 objects, almost all of which are free to use. De Nederlandsche Bank has a numismatic library with both brand new and very old and rare publications. It also has journals and auction catalogues, mint placards, manuscripts and other documentation materials. These objects are also part of the National Numismatic Collection. Of the 50,000 titles in the collection, more than 3,000 are digitally available. Our library is open to visitors, but our books cannot leave the premises and you can only make a limited number of copies. To request a title or to schedule a visit, email bibliotheek_NNC@dnb.nl.
