Yes, in Dutch and English. Texts, videos and the audio tour are available in both languages. Game instructions are only available in Dutch.
Yes, the entire facility is accessible. The exhibition space consists of three floors. Two of the rooms can be reached by a series of stairs. If you have difficulty using stairs, there is an alternative route without stairs through a special locked door. If you would like to use this route, please let us know about your visit in advance: denieuweschatkamer@dnb.nl. All texts have a clear font size and the games have audible signals. The toilets are wheelchair accessible.
Yes, the exhibition is suitable for children aged 13 and over.
Yes. However, the vault experience may not be suitable for people with epilepsy or who suffer from vertigo due to the light and sound effects.
Yes, there are reading tables where you can have something to eat or drink. There is a coffee corner where you can buy coffee, tea, snacks and cakes. And there are water taps (free) where you can fill your bottle or cup. It is not allowed to eat and drink in the exhibition area and the auditorium.
Yes, there are lockers and there is a cloakroom for visitors. You can use a locker to store your jacket, backpack or handbag. The lockers are not big enough for very large backpacks or suitcases. A QR code gives you access to a locker. There are large boxes for coats and bags of schoolchildren taking part in a tour. These boxes can be locked, and the teacher gets the key.
The minimum age for tours is 13 years. The tour is suitable for pupils in the second year of secondary school and up, and for students in higher education. The tour for schools is tailor-made: the tour guide adjusts it to the age and level of the group.
The tour covers all parts of De Nieuwe Schatkamer and all topics. However, the tour guide will choose from the available games.
Yes. Teachers are expected to actively participate in the tour.
Visitors are allowed to photograph and/or film, but only with the individual permission of the tour participants.
Yes, that is possible. Schoolchildren must be supervised, however.
All games can be played with two or more people. You can also play some games individually or investigate on your own, such as with Real & fake money, and Damaged money.
Many games deal with the workings of the economy and our money – these go beyond the Dutch context. One game specifically deals with ECB decisions. In this game you will experience what it is like to sit in the boardroom and make joint decisions for the entire euro area.
Yes. No special preparation is needed for the exhibition. You can find teaching materials for use prior to your visit here. You can also use these materials to go more in-depth after your visit. Please note that all teaching materials are in Dutch.
