Click, swipe, regret... Can paying become too easy?

From swiping to automatic deductions: payments are faster than ever. But in a world where every transaction flows effortlessly, the question arises: are we losing control of our money? In this program, we explore how payment convenience is changing our lives and the challenges that come with it.

Date: 17 April
Time: 20:00 - 21:30

This program is in Dutch

Everyone is familiar with online shopping: a few clicks and you've paid. Sometimes, you don't even need to click. Whether you're making a purchase with Klarna to "sort it out later," taking a Bolt taxi that charges you automatically, or flashing Apple Pay at the checkout: paying is becoming easier, faster, and almost invisible. This so-called frictionless payment makes our lives simpler. But how simple is too simple? What happens when paying becomes so smooth that it brings risks – and who is responsible for that?

In this discussion, we bring together experts from the Dutch Central Bank (DNB) and the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) to talk about the future of frictionless payments. Where does the responsibility for consumer protection, system security, and sustainability lie? How do we keep payments transparent in a world where technology drives our behavior?

Featuring: Ellen Naudts and Jorgen Eijlander (DNB), Daniëlle de Jager (AFM), and Melanie Weeda (Socialdebt). The program is led by Liesbeth Staats.
