Extraordinary works, extraordinary stories

Themes

The permanent exhibition is the heart of our art collection. It’s a collection of different stories and views of the world. They can be divided into three themes: Ways of seeing; Here and somewhere; Thinking and dreaming. To learn even more about the works of art, take a guided tour or visit one of the events.

Ways of seeing

Art invites you to look at the world differently. Sometimes by playing with the mundane, other times by subverting your expectations or confronting you with something unexpected. Through art, we can become aware of how we see the world and what influences our gaze.

Kunstwerk: Golden Bread.

Here and somewhere

These works show different forms of landscape, illustrating the idea that human interests are inextricably linked to the things around us, whether they’re above or below ground. The ground beneath our feet is often the site of conflict, industrial depletion and exploitation. What are the relationships between here and somewhere, near and far away, the familiar and the unknown?

Thinking and dreaming

Here you  see several works that raise questions about the future. What will the humans of tomorrow look like? How will technology and climate change affect our daily lives? What will the implications of our colonial history mean going forward? All these works show that moments of change are both fraught with uncertainty and brimming with magic. Bodies disintegrate into surfaces and lines. Objects are removed from their original context. Words take on new meaning.
