The permanent exhibition
See some 40 unique works of art in the permanent exhibition. You will see masterpieces by George Hendrik Breitner and Marlene Dumas, among others. And works by today’s talents: Elspeth Diederix, David Nuur, Ronald Ophuis and many more. The exhibition is a great introduction to De Nederlandsche Bank’s rich and varied art collection. Exhibition Uprooted
In this temporary exhibition, artist Puck Verkade draws you into a womblike underground space. With the idea that the earth is a living organism, based on the inseparable connection between human and non-human life. Imbued with maternal anxieties, the work reflects on the tension of welcoming new life into a decaying world, while also exploring the kinship between ecological crisis and reproductive uncertainty.
You feel this tension in Verkade’s concept: the profound transition into motherhood.
The self-guided exhibition runs from 8 September 2025 to 13 February 2026.

The art collection has a rich history. De Nederlandsche Bank has been acquiring art since the late nineteenth century, and the collection has changed over the years. Based on our own vision of art, we purchase new works, organise exhibitions and seek collaborations.

Sculpture garden
Need to escape the hustle and bustle of the city? Come to the city garden on the grounds of De Nederlandsche Bank. You’ll find the entrance at Westeinde. Find a quiet spot among the greenery and sculptures by artists such as Rachel de Joode, Toby Ziegler and Sarah van Sonsbeeck.
